“Why do chloroplasts recruit RNA processing factors to deal with protein quality control?”
The Ogris lab seeks to elucidate the mechanisms and regulation of PP2A biogenesis in yeast and mammalian cells. We are looking for a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral scientist interested in a project which aims to understand how methylation-dependent PP2A holoenzyme assembly is regulated by and connected to the methionine metabolism.
Richard Feynman asked physicists to build better microscopes to watch biology at work. Our Quantum Imaging and Biophysics group works at the interface of microscopy, quantum physics, and electron optics to develop new imaging techniques that offer increased sensitivity and resolution. We are looking for a talented postdoc to help realize Optical Near-field Electron Microscopy (ONEM, Marchand et al. Phys. Rev. Applied 16, 014008 (2021)).

The goal of the Master’s project will be to determine the structure of PHLPP2 to high resolution by cryo electron microscopy (already very well advanced) and characterize its phosphatase activity and substrate specificity in vitro. The project will involve recombinant protein purification, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) in collaboration with the Institute of Analytical Chemistry at BOKU, and quantitative biophysical and biochemical assays.

We are an internationally competitive, innovative and creative research group investigating fundamental cellular mechanisms in the regulation of gene expression and RNA metabolism by combining genome-wide experiments with cutting edge genetic-, molecular- and biochemical assays. We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated master student to work on a project aiming to systematically dissect RNA exosome, a key player involved in RNA processing and degradation in the mammalian system.

We focus on the RAF/MEK/ERK pathway, an evolutionarily conserved kinase module which relays signals through consecutive phosphorylation of proteins arranged in three tiers. Constitutive activation of the pathway is a key event in several human malignancies and developmental disorders.
